Rescheduled: Ribbon-cutting, first game on improved baseball and softball fields

Expected rainy weather has pushed back the ribbon-cutting and first game on Marietta City Schools (MCS) newly improved baseball and softball fields at Marietta High School.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will now take place on Friday, February 9, at 5 p.m. before the baseball season opener, where Marietta will take on Kennesaw Mountain.

The upgrades include revamped outfields fitted with new synthetic turf, an underground drainage system, replacement netting, and a new outfield wall to provide a top-notch playing experience.

The district invested more than $2 million, utilizing E-SPLOST dollars to fund the project. Work began in September of 2022 and completed just in time for the beginning of this year’s baseball season.

The community is invited to come celebrate at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and stay for the game to cheer on our Blue Devils as they take the new field for the first time.
