New principals announced at Marietta High School, Lockheed Elementary
Marietta High School (MHS) and Lockheed Elementary School are proud to announce the appointment of two new principals. Dr. Marvin J. Crumbs will be the new principal of Marietta High School, and Dr. Tricia Patterson will be the new principal of Lockheed Elementary School.
“Dr. Crumbs and Dr. Patterson bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to our school district,” said Dr. Grant Rivera, Superintendent of Marietta City Schools. “We are excited to have them lead our schools and build upon the success of our district. They both have a passion for education and a commitment to our students.”
Dr. Crumbs joins MCS, having served 11 years at Columbus High School, ranked the second-best high school in Georgia. Crumbs is a seasoned educator with a wealth of experience in middle and high school administration. He holds a bachelor of science in health sciences and a master of education in middle grades education from Columbus State University, a specialist degree in elementary education from Troy University, and a doctorate in education administration from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida.
"I am thrilled to join Marietta High School and to work alongside the incredible students, faculty, staff, and community members," said Dr. Crumbs. "Together, we will continue to build upon the school's rich tradition of academic excellence and create a safe, welcoming environment that fosters learning and growth for all students."
Dr. Patterson is a passionate and experienced educator with over 24 years in the field. She holds a bachelor of arts in journalism and communication from The Ohio State University, a bachelor of arts in teaching (K–8) from Otterbein College, a master’s in education leadership from Kennesaw State University, a specialist in education leadership from Berry College, and earned her doctorate in education policy and leadership from The University of Alabama.
“Joining the Lockheed family ignites my passion as an educator to work alongside such dedicated and talented professionals,” said Dr. Patterson. “Together, we can empower our students to reach their full potential and create a culture of excellence that will benefit our entire community."
Both Crumbs and Patterson are well-known in educational circles and respected for their leadership, vision, and commitment to academic excellence. They will both assume their respective roles in June 2023.
Both will be holding community meet and greets. Crumbs will hold his Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Marietta Performing Arts Center at MHS from 5:30–6:30 p.m. Patterson will hold two in the Lockheed Learning Commons, one on Tuesday, April 11, from 6:30–7:30 p.m. The second, Saturday, April 15, from 10:00–11:00 a.m.
