Marietta City Schools celebrates largest graduating class in history

The Marietta High School (MHS) graduation ceremony for the Class of 2023 is slated for May 26, 2023, at Northcutt Stadium, and will be the largest graduating class in the history of Marietta City Schools.

"Our students are not just the promise of tomorrow; they are the heartbeat of today. Their journey to this point is a testament to the power of education to change lives and shape futures,” said Superintendent Grant Rivera, “I hope these students remember that they are the architects of a world we can't yet see, but one we are confident will be extraordinary because of them."

This graduating class showcases impressive academic achievements with students accepted into Ivy League schools and prestigious military academies. MHS seniors had nearly 600 acceptances to more than 300 colleges and universities across the country. Over 60 students will graduate with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, a respected and highly rigorous global curriculum. Additionally, more than 40 seniors will graduate as part of the IB Career-Related Program.

"Every student's journey to this point is a unique tapestry of trials, triumphs, and tenacity. As they cross the stage and step into the future I hope they carry forward the spirit of resilience they've embodied throughout their educational journey,” said MHS Interim Principal Marco Holland. “May they always remember that their Marietta City School family is immensely proud of them."

While the graduation ceremony is a ticketed event, each graduate is entitled to extend invitations to ten guests to share in this memorable moment. Gates will open at 6:20 p.m. and close at 7:20 p.m. to allow seating before the graduates process in to the stadium. The ceremony is scheduled to begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. The keepsake graduation program will serve as the ticket for admission.

For those than cannot attend, the ceremony will be live-streamed at bluedevilnews.com under the "LIVE" tab.

Marietta residents can expect traffic delays on the afternoon and into the evening of the event as attendees gather at Northcutt Stadium. Limited parking will be available around the Big Blue Gym at Marietta Middle School.
