MCS Provides Children Free Meals Throughout Summer Months
Marietta City Schools is providing free summer meals to children by being a part of the Seamless Summer Option program.
From May 30 to July 28, free meals are available for all children under 18 at any of our 34 citywide locations. The program doesn't require registration or impose any income or residency restrictions, making it a convenient and inclusive solution for families seeking nutritious meal options during the summer break.
"We are deeply committed to serving our community, and that commitment doesn't stop when the school year does," said MCS School Nutrition Director Cindy Culver, "The Seamless Summer Option program allows us to continue supporting our children and their families by ensuring they have access to nutritious meals all summer long."
The Seamless Summer Option program is part of a wider Summer Meals Program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The program addresses the critical issue of child hunger, which affects more than 1 in 5 children in certain areas. Many children only have access to consistent, nutritious school meals during the school year. SSO steps in to fill the gap during the summer, ensuring children have enough food for an active, healthy life.
MCS encourages all families with children under 18 to take advantage of this program and support their child's nutritional needs throughout the summer months.
