Michael Laing: MCS December Student of the Month

The Marietta City Schools December Student of the Month, Michael Laing is a shining example of a student who strives to excel in both academics and character. Michael is a 3rd grade student at Dunleith Elementary.
Michael is an outstanding MCS achiever. He is a leader, a conscientious student, and a valuable citizen at his school, serving as a positive role model for his peers inside and outside of the classroom.
Michael’s stellar academic performance is due in part to his commitment and unwavering dedication. He works tirelessly to complete challenging assignments and always shows diligence and perseverance until his work is complete and accurate. Michael is an A/B honor roll student, and he also dedicates his time serving as a peer tutor at Dunleith.
One example of Michael’s shining character and friendly demeanor occurred when a classmate recently broke his leg and returned to school in a wheelchair. Michael went out of his way to ensure the student was comfortable, helped him maneuver throughout the school, and assisted him in gathering his belongings each day.
Michael loves music and leadership and is able to bring his passions to life through his participation in the Dunleith chorus, the I AM Leadership club, and serving on the student council. He was also recently recognized as a Dunleith Elementary Student of the Month.
“Michael has natural leadership skills,” said his teacher, Leslie McAplin. “He takes the lead on helping his classmates when they have questions about their assignments and helps to keep his classmates focused on their lessons. Our classroom and school are truly better because of Michael Laing.”
Congratulations to Michael Laing, the Marietta City Schools Student of the Month!
